Dispute resolution involves attempts pre-trial or even during trial, to reach a settlement outside of court.
As court is expensive, no one really wins, so dispute resolution is preferred to legal action.
Courts generally require parties to make a bona fide (good faith) attempt to mediate issues before going to court.
