1 Translational motion
Translational motion is as contrasted with rotational motion. In other words, translational motion is movement of the entire object, instead of the spinning of it.

“So Miley, if we imagine we’re in a park, and we hop on to the swing,” Jeremy says.
“If I push you center-on, I’m providing translational motion (i.e. causing you to move back-and-forth).”
“However, if I push you bit toward the side, you not only have translational motion (i.e. move back-and-forth), but also rotational motion (i.e. spin).”
“So essentially,” Miley comments, “translational motion is movement as we know it clasically, and rotational motion is essentially spin.”
“That’s right smarty,” Jeremy responds.
“How about giving me more of those!” Miley comments.
“Sure thing,” Jeremy replies, “you’ve been a good girl today”, he passes them on to Miley.
